Although we had seen the photograph's of the country house prior to our visit, seeing it in reality surpassed our wildest dreams. It is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, on a hillside overlooking fantastic panoramic views.
The country house itself has been restored to the highest of standards both the exterior and interior and is of huge proportions. The quality of the refurbishments is of a very high specification. The large farmhouse kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. The lounge/diner is more than suitable to cater for the full complement of 10 people. The bedrooms are exceptionally well furnished and the bathrooms/en-suites have been fitted to a very high specification. All in all it is the most beautiful property we have had the pleasure to holiday in.
The peace quiet and tranquillity from the surrounding countryside is something to behold and if walking, exploring the countryside, or just chilling out there is no better place.
We visited several of the recommended restaurants and enjoyed the cuisine, the atmosphere and the overall typically Italian hospitality.
The owner’s local contact was available to us and was very helpful with recommending places to visit.
The best part of our holiday was when we were able to relax on the large terrace, drink our gin and tonics and fire up the barbecue.
We have already highly recommended this fantastic country house to friends and family and would not hesitate to stay there again in the near future.

On arrival at our destination we were immediately impressed by how tastefully the Italian farmhouse had been renovated. Its character had been retained, but it was now beautiful, elegant, well-appointed and comfortable.
Being nature lovers we were delighted to find the surrounding fields were edged with a profusion of wild flowers – Italian sainfoin, Venus’s looking glass, Toadflax, Broom, Vetches and many more. Taking advantage of these were various species of butterflies in good numbers and we spent many happy hours during our stay photographing them all.
The owners had left a lot of information on local shops, restaurants and interesting places to visit. Finding this helpful we enjoyed a day in The Republic of San Marino – a must for lovers of shopping and eating, as well as for its intriguing past.
Another outing was to the amazing Frasassi Caves, where once inside, all sense of perspective is lost. Apparently the largest cavern we stood in would comfortably hold Milan cathedral. Walking through the one and a half miles of these incredible limestone formations open to the public, we were surprised to hear the whole system is estimated to cover eight miles!
The friends we travelled with also enjoyed a day on the coast at Senigallia, easily reached from Fratte Rosa.
However, most of our time was spent making good use of our spacious accommodation, its comfortable patio furniture and the tranquil setting. The owners of the property had thought of everything down to the smallest detail to make sure we had a great time – a true home-from-home in a picturesque landscape.
With thanks from Barbara and Maurice Higginbotham.
